Biography:
Arkan Viras was the father of Esik Viras, who in turn was widely-regarded as the "Father of the Nation" by future generations. Though he too would, albeit briefly, hold the office of Imperial Chancellor, he is more well-known for his valiant service during the First Ardo-Arashin War, during which time he would be wounded in action, losing his right eye and most of his left arm when a shell landed close to him during the siege of Tasiri. He would, in that battle, organize the evacuation of some 41% of the city's population, and for his efforts, a statue of him now stands in it's main plaza, just outside of city hall. A warrior by trade, he would, thanks to his injuries and declining health, be forced to sit out the fighting in the Arashin Civil War, though he would play a part in the planning of a few battles.
The civil war would cost his family dearly, with his firstborn, Bershai, being killed during the Kharatan campaign of 1887. It would be in that year that, when his elder brother also died (in this case of a severe flu), he would be appointed Imperial Chancellor and would play a key role in beginning the rebuilding of the nation. However, in 1888, as his health continued to decline, he would pass away, aged only fifty-nine years old.
