The Imperial Palace of Ikas
Former Main Building of the Ikas Imperial Palace
One of the two major palaces in Ikan, the Ikas palace was built upon the titular terrace found on the east bank of the river Kheilat. It was, before the rise of the Second Empire of Ikhan, the residence of the Sherkoz, the lords of the region under the Hailun dynasty. When they assumed the title of Eshva, the palace was expanded to facilitate the governance of the Empire. The palace, formerly a fortress, was greatly expanded between the 1840s and 1890s, and then again in the 1960s in order to further modernize the structure. It is important to note that the structure bears notable similarities to palaces in the nations to the south of Ikhan, indicating at the very least that it was heavily influenced by them. There is evidence that points to a fortified settlement existing on the Ikas terrace as early as the 19th century BCE.
