Jishek Viras, Acting Prime Minister of Ikhan
The Prime Minister is de-facto the chief of the executive of the Government of Ikhan and the leader of the Cabinet of Ikhan. A list of all Prime Ministers will be provided below. While the Prime Minister is elected by the general populace of Ikhan, it is, at least in a formal sense, "appointed" by the Emperor (which is to say confirmed as the new PM after the elections). While terms last for four years, the Prime Minister must also maintain the confidence of the National Assembly to remain in office. So far, no Prime Minister has been removed by vote of no confidence (though one has been impeached for crimes against the state). As the head of the cabinet, he or she is permitted to appoint new ministers of state.
The current prime minister is Ashot Ekhral, though he was recently voted out in favour of Ashot Kaval. Prime Minister Kaval previously served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2012. He was elected to the office on the 27th of October, 2020 as part of the 2020 General Elections.
The position was established with the creation of the Constitution of Ikhan in 1899, though it was vacant until the elections the year afterwards.
