Introduction:
The Second Empire of Ikhan (officially the "Second Empire of Ikhan, Rusan, and Lekhai"), commonly known as either "Ikhan", "Ikhvan", or "Ishan", is a Consititutional Monarchy consisting of 58 separate provinces in Eastern Ardia and North-western Albion. Ikhan has a population of around ~229 million citizens who reside in an admittedly slightly patriarchical society which developed a strong sense of honour, equal rights, and personal freedom.
The Nation was once, nearly a thousand years ago, divided into five smaller states in a period known as the "Arashin Pentarchy". These states were Misra (which would go on to unite the nation), Vrashe (for the time a major hub of trade in the region), Kairan (the spiritual and historical heart of Arashin culture), Hashtai (A rival of Vrashe in matters of trade), and Khushai (which was primarily situated in the Feltasi mountains). These states were further divided into smaller principalities, duchies, and fiefdoms that often acted with a high degree of autonomy.

Ikhan at the Height of the Pentarchy
The Empire was effectively established during the reign of Khorai I (1006-1088, reigned 1028-1088), though he never formally held the title of "Esvha" during his own lifetime, this being posthumously given to him after his death. Despite this, the Empire would only stagnate after his own death, with the last Hailun-Emperor dying in 1426. Despite this, as well as a "brief" period of chaos (1426-1476) across the realm, Ikhan did not fall to outside forces, protected as it was by the Feltasi and Khatari mountains to the west and south of the region. By 1476, however, Ikhan was reunited under Arkan I, known as Arkan "the Great" of Clan Sherkoz. Under him, a new dynasty would rise, emerging from the Great Clan Sherkoz, leading the nation into the modern day.
Though Ikhan has been somewhat isolationist in the last few decades, it has recently begun to reintegrate itself with the rest of the world. This has taken the form, initially, of making diplomatic overtures to the Cross-Straits Union and especially it's southern neighbor, Rokkenjima. It can be inferred, based upon recent actions taken by the state, that it seeks to eventually join the Cross Straits Union and cooperate more closely with it's neighbors in ensuring peace for the region.
